Snapchat's My AI has been behaving erratically for hundreds of millions of users worldwide. The AI chatbot posted a cryptic story on its profile and responded in an unusual way in chats, causing its users uneasiness.
How long are my interactions stored?
All shared content is stored with My AI until you delete it.
How do I delete my data?
You can delete content sent to My AI in your chat within 24 hours. You can also delete previous content shared with My AI by following these steps:
- Tap your profile icon and tap ⚙️ to go to Settings.
- Scroll down to "Privacy Controls".
- Click on "Clear data".
- Click on "Clear my AI data" and confirm.
- Tap your profile icon and tap ⚙️ to go to Settings.
- Scroll down to Account Actions.
- Click on "Clear my AI data".
Launched earlier this year, Snapchat's My AI chatbot aims to act as a friend that Snapchatters can talk to and get help with on a number of topics including places to visit, used lenses, and wearable clothes.
Despite this, the bot paused, responding to all questions with "Sorry, I encountered a technical problem?" In addition, My AI also posted a photo on its story — the very first — of what appears to be a wall or ceiling. That story was shortly deleted.
Some Snapchatters even panicked because they thought it was a picture of some wall in their house. However, these fears were quickly dispelled when it was proven that everyone saw the same story.
